The Sociological View

There are several different levels of intelligent life on Eadaë, ranging from the transapient gods to the mortal races, which of course include Humans.  All of these different peoples have had their own histories, sometimes interacting with other peoples, but always developing independently and uniquely.

The Thanalé
These beings inhabited the world long before the coming of the Mother and Father.  Reptilian in nature, they were also quite mortal.  But their fall from self-grace doomed both them and their world.

Mo Ketseth'ua:  These are the ancestral Thanalé, who lived a spiritual existence off of the land.  But time would see them eventually changed to a more materialistic, imperialistic existence.  Their population was centralized in Amtherias, but they were migratory in nature.  Their culture never exceeded that of a typical nomadic people until certain populations began to stay in one area year around.  These populations would eventually lead to future forms of the species, and would doom the Mo Ketseth'ua to extinction.

Ahngûntha:  These were the first Thanalé to develop a sedentary lifestyle based on horticulture, which in turn provided the opportunity for their population to expand, and their technology to grow.  In time, these first villages began to spread and to grow into cities, until much of Amtherias had been populated by their kind and their now mighty, monolithic stone architecture.  As they grew and expanded, they eventually displaced and finally drove to extinction their ancestors, the nomadic Mo Ketseth'ua.  But by this point they were beyond caring, for they had begun to learn about the magic in the world, and they had begun to corrupt it with their swiftly growing blood cults.  In time, they had brought about a magical apocalypse as their demands became too great, and the cost became too high.  Their civilization was cast down, and most of the world thrown into ruin.  It was into this devastated, on-the-brink setting that the Mother and Father came to.
C'zicha:  One of the three modern races of Thanalé, and perhaps the most open and commonly seen.  Descended from the ruins of the Ahngûntha after they had fled into the wilds of their world, the C'zicha slowly developed and diverged over time, both in superficial appearance and philosophy.  But none of the divisions of the C'zicha have ever come close to regaining their peoples' former glory, and indeed they themselves have long since lost all knowledge of it.  When faced with the ruins of the Ahngûntha, they treat them as places of great evil and do not approach.
  •

    • T'sunni Nomads:  A society that has changed from hunters to herders, ranging the plains of Amtherias.

    • Y'dar:  A matriarchal society which is highly territorial

    • Habata:  Reclusive society, living for hundreds of generations within the same cliff dwellings.

  • Sanshanni:  One of the three modern races, it is also the most primitive, having regressed after the fall of the original Thanalé civilization.

  •  Celaë: One of the three modern races of Thanalé, and the most secretive.  They dwell exclusively underground, and are believed to have some relationship with Eadaë herself

The Fae'tama
As closely related to the y'Asalla as are the Eldharin, but far less in Power and strength.  These are the spirits of the world, the haunters of stone and stream, and often times as mortal as any of the races of the world.

The Yaurdwali te Dwauta
A race of beings created by the y'Asalla, who at one point craved the comfort of worshippers.  Each member of this race is immortal and incapable of breeding.

  • Lancris:  They dwelt by the ancient Synlan Sea.
  • SínAnyithël:  They dwelt in the land of Ithingwë.

The Aewylin
Born from the Yaurdwali, but mortal, and yet preternaturally beautiful in form and thought and craft.

  • Daoine Suesta:  The first of the Aewylin, who served the Yaurdwali te Dwauta.

  • Nonduil:  These are the Daoine Suesta, but they renamed themselves after gaining freedom from the Yaurdwali.

  • Isadrienduil:  After the fall of the great empire, these are the Aewylin that came to live in the northern mountains and forests.

  • Lómérianduil:  After the fall, these Aewylin came to follow the teachings of the Autumn, and moved to dwell in the dark places beneath the Earth.

  • Belinduil:  After the fall, these Aewylin traveled across the oceans, and came to live within the living ice of the northern ice sheets.

The Äubrekka
The strong and square race formed by the Yaurdwali and meant to be base laborers.  But time has seen them become craftsmen of unaccounted beauty, and warriors of mighty ferocity.

  • Soisil:  These are the ancestral Äubrekka, first enslaved by the Yaurdwali te Dwauta.  Even after their freedom, they changed little.  It was not until the fall of their mighty empire that they split into other races.

  • Kudu:  These are the Äubrekka who live within the high mountains, dwelling and farming on the slopes, and delving into the peaks for the riches of the earth.

  • Thanna'duum:  These Äubrekka abandoned the mountains after the fall, and made the great coniferous forests of the lowlands their home.

  • Du'ekka:  An entire race, corrupted by the Autumn.

The e'Gratën
Meant to be the warriors of the Yaurdwali, this race was long ago corrupted by the whispered promises of power and wealth.  They are savage and destructive.

The Enkidai
Only after the fall of the Elder Races did this race once more begin to strive for greatness.

  • Manin:  Tall and proud, with fair skin and dark hair, and eyes the color of deep water.

  • Soggotha:  Short, but powerfully built, with dusky skin and black hair, and pale blue eyes that are slanted.

  • Hitachouk:  Tall and lithe, with dark hair, tanned skin, and black eyes.

  • Huril:  Pale skin and golden to brown hair, with eyes of gray.  Classically built musculature.

  • Ahkali:  Short, dusky skin, black hair and eyes, and a harsh language.

  • Uruiites:  Short, but not overly muscular.  Brown hair and tanned skin, with light brown eyes.  The horse lords.

  • Jhūl:  Black skin, black hair, light brown eyes.  Varying builds.

  • Meru:  Pale skin and pale hair, with almost white eyes.  Tall and thin.
