A

  • Aewylin:  A race of great beauty and magical power, created by the Yaurdwali te Dwauta to act as servants.  In time they became independent, and to Men they came to be called "elves".
    Ahlwynna:  One of the two camps of the Eldharin, they serve the light and are the soldiers who fight the Autumn in the war of Hybasa.
    Ahngûntha:  One of the earliest of the Mo Ketseth'ua races.  They are known for their dark religious rites, the bloodiest of which continues to echo down into the modern age.
  • Age of Gods:  An age stretching from 250,000 to 80,000 years ago.  During this age, the Host was born and matured, and eventually began warring among themselves.
  • Age of Magic:  An age stretching from 80,000 to 60,000 years ago, and marked by the all-encompassing activities of the Yaurdwali te Dwauta.  The age ended when the Yaurdwali made war upon the y'Asalla, and were summarily cast beyond the Walls of Air.
  • Amtherias:  The southern continent in the western hemisphere.
  • Angara:  An island empire to the west of Ansend.  Originally a colony of Valensia, it escaped the fall of its mother country and her siblings, but remained isolated for thousands of years after words.  It eventually advanced to the point of becoming a mighty maritime empire, and put much of the western hemisphere, and some of the east, under its sway.
  • Angaran Age, the:  An age lasting from from 10,500 to 6,000 years ago.  It was marked by the dominion of the distant island empire of Angara, an ancient colony of long dead Valensia.
  • Ansend:  The northern continent of the western hemisphere.
  • Ansendian Age:  An age lasting from 1,500 years ago to the present.  It is an age still recovering from the fall of the previous one.
  • Aril Daylar:  One of the Thirteen Dooms.  In the form of a dragon-hilted sword, it is a mighty weapon that has brought about the rise and fall of empires.
  • Aril Kamas:  The Bladed Bow, one of the Thirteen Dooms.
  • Asmoghül:  One of the y'Asalla, and the only one to have ever died, although his unbound essence continues to haunt the region which saw his downfall.
    Äubrekka:  A race of humans that grew to adapt themselves to a life in the high mountains, and eventually within their depths.  In later ages, other Men would call them "dwarves".
  • Autumn, the:  A term used to describe those forces which strive to change the world into a realization of the dark vision of Samildanach.  Often times these forces are called the Blood of Autumn.
  • Autumn Lord:  A term referring to Samildanach of the y'Asalla.
  • Autumn War, the:  The first overt battle, lead by Samildanach, against the forces of the Spring.  Fought at the end of the Elder Age, it lead to Samildanach's first downfall.

B

  • Beast Men:  In the Eolin Age, these were the highly savage and primitive forerunners of the Soggotha people.
    Bejart, Maggie:  Brought into Eadaë from Earth in order to aid in the Second Autumn War, Maggie eventually became a famed archmage.
  • Belinduil:  The Mother's Wounded, those Aewylin that fled across the ocean at the end of the Eolin Age, and became known as the ice, or winter elves.
  • Blood of Autumn:  A common term referring to the forces of the Autumn.
  • Brahms, Gerald: A friend of Sean's, from Earth.  Tall and skinny, with his black hair constantly in a queue, he was always interested in the occult.

C

  • Calorne:  A nation-state that was established in the year 98 AA of the Ansendian Age.  The first highly structured nation to appear in this age, Calorne was responsible for bringing order and civilization back to much of western Ansend.
  • Captain of the Guard:  In the military chain of command for the Lands of the White Citadel, this is the absolute leader of the military, just below the authority of the Queen.
  • Council of Lords:  The ruling body of Calorne.  Made up of six Lords and a Lord Premiere, they form perhaps the closest thing to a true democracy in Ansend.

D

  • Dardannin Mountains:  The major mountain range of the Ansendian continent, and likely the largest range on the entire planet.  They stretch from the northern glaciers to the southern most tip of Ansend, and encompass several climatic and ecological zones.
  • Donovan, Sean:  From the world of Earth, Sean Donovan was brought into Eadaë in order to help defeat the Autumn during the Second Autumn War.  Sean eventually became a highly renowned, quasi-legendary figure.
  • Dragon:  a being of magic and power of nearly unrivaled scope.  Their origins are a mystery, though it is possible that they were born of the Host.  Dragons are long-lived, on the order of thousands of years, and behave in ways that are often hostile towards other races, but which are in fact only surface manifestations of their own agendas.
  • Dragontamer, the:  A name given to Sean Donovan after he killed the Dragon which had come to the White Citadel.  Legends surrounding the Dragontamer have grown and spread accordingly.
  • duRavengaard, Alextrin:  A warlord of the Kull-ti tribe in northeastern Ansend.  He was given Aril Daylar, and with it he forged the great kingdom of The Realm.
  • duRavengaard, Algos:  The brother of Alextrin duRavengaard, who betrayed his brother during the Autumn War, and who thus became the ruler of all the Enkidai.
    Durga:  One of the y'Asalla, called Durga of the earth.  He came to claim the Äubrekka as his own children.
  • Dwarves:  What Men call the Äubrekka.

E

  • Eadaë:  The Mother's name, as well as the name of the world in which she came to join with.
  • e'Gratën:  That race created by the Yaurdwali te Dwauta for use as soldiers.  Since the Yaurdwali were so few in number and unable to breed, they used this race to do their fighting.  Strong and bound by their own particular code of honor, they were also savage.  In time, Men would come to call them "goblins".
  • Elder Age, the:  An age lasting from 60,000 to 40,000 years ago.  It was marked by the rise of the Elder Races, filling the vacuum left by the passing of the Yaurdwali.  Men also possess a civilization during this age, but it is scattered and weak in comparison.
  • Elder Races:  Those races commonly called Elves, Dwarves, and Goblins by Men.  They were each created by the Yaurdwali te Dwauta in order to serve a particular function in Yaurdwali society, but they became independent when their masters were cast from the world.
  • Eldharin:  Those of the Host who rank just below the y'Asalla.  Though their powers are lesser, their numbers are far greater.  Many became worshipped as gods by various races, and indeed many of these came to believe that they were indeed such gods, and began to take on the characteristics and mannerisms ascribed to them by their worshippers.  As time wore on, all Eldharin became loyal to either the Spring or the Autumn, although a handful remained apart from this conflict, and remained concerned only with their own agendas.
  • Elves:  What Men call the Aewylin.
  • Enkidai:  The proper name of the race of Men.  Once there was only the Enkidai, who settled in the lands of Ithingwë during the Age of Gods.  Much later, of course, the Enkidai diversified into many different races.
  • Eolin:  A great empire founded on Ansend, and giving rise to the Eolin Age.
  • Eolin Age, the:  An age stretching from 35,000 to 26,000 years ago.  This is marked by the rise of the races of the Enkidai, following the fall of the mighty Elder empires.

  • Goblins:  What Men call the e'Gratën.
  • Guardian of the Northern Lands of the White Citadel:  A title created for Sean Donovan after he had retired from the post of Captain of the Guard, and moved to Midvale Valley, in the far north of the Lands.

H

  • Herion:  This is the capitol of the Aewylin nation of Eolin.  Long after it is abandoned, the White Citadel will be erected upon this site.
    Host, the:  A term used to identify all those creatures born of the Mother and Father.  This includes the y'Asalla, the Eldharin, and and many other beings.
  • Hybasa:  A self contained realm, hidden within the folds of the Walls of Air, where the majority of the Host resides.  Once connected to the world, it has since been hidden away by the y'Asalla.

I

  • Isadrienduil:  The True of the Mother, those Aewylin that fought against their corrupted brethren.
    Isles of Y'lloh:  Located far in the western ocean, this chain of volcanic islands is the center of magical learning for the world of Eadaë.  Few know of the islands beyond vague legends.
  • Ithingwë:  A region of land in northeastern Ansend, so named by the y'Asalla.  It was here that the race of Men first settled.

Joppa:  A region of southern Ansend, marked by extensive swamps as well as red deserts.

K

  • Kull-ti:  A race of Men that developed after populations of Manin from the region of what would become the Lands of the White Citadel interbred with populations of Hitachouk.  They have dwelt in a northern valley of the Dardannin Mountains, called The Realm, for thousands of years.

L

  • Lands of the White Citadel:  A nation-state of the Dardannin Mountains encompassing several valleys and mountain ranges, which can be counted among the most influential of the nations of Ansend, despite its relatively isolated location.
  • Lómérianduil:  The Betrayers of the Mother, what would be known as the dark elves.
  • Lord:  A title given to those serving on Calorne's Council of Lords.
  • Lord Premiere:  The leader of the Council of Lords in the nation of Calorne.
  • Lord Ravage:  A mighty and evil sorcerer who, near the beginning of the Ansendian Age, attempted to conquer western Ansend.  It is believed that he was a sorcerer from the ancient Angaran Age.

M

  • Men:  The common name of the Enkidai race.
  • Midvale Village:  A village located in the northern regions of the Lands of the White Citadel.  Traditionally isolated and quite provincial, the population is made up almost exclusively of farmers and ranchers, who sell their goods to the more populated areas of the Lands during yearly meets throughout the Lands.
  • Minion:  One of three beings of great magical power which serve as the lieutenants of Samildanach.
  • Mo Ketseth'ua:  The mother race of the reptilian folk that ruled the world during the Time Before Reckoning.  They were best known for their huge, monolithic architecture.

O

  • Obroë:  The strongest of the y'Asalla, and the leader of the Spring.
  • Ophra Sea:  A name used during the Eolin Age in reference to the body of water separating the continents of Ansend and Amtherias.

P

  • Painted Ones, the:  A common name for the Wendol Pwyn.
    Paradūs:
      During the Eolin Age, this was an empire founded by Men who had learned or remembered ancient knowledge of the Yaurdwali te Dwauta.  It was a land of sorcery and, at times, great evil.
  • People of the Mother:  During the Eolin Age, these were a savage people living in the northeast corner of Ansend.  Descendents of many Enkidai tribes, they were also the immediate ancestors of the blonde and blue-eyed races of that region in later ages.  The People were marked by the worship of stone carvings of pregnant women.

Q

  • Queen, the:  The ceremonial title of the leader of the Lands of the White Citadel.  While the Queen is always female, she is not a true queen.  Rather, the title is handed down from the distant past, when legend says the people of the Lands were first brought into the world.

R

  • Ravenhair, the:  A common name ascribed to Hunter Rhylhaeven.
  • Realm, The:  A region in the Dardannin Mountains, located in their northern regions, which is the sole home to the Kull-ti people.
  • Ritola, Thomas:  From Earth, and an acquaintance of Sean's.  An exchange student, he was always known as being something of a smart ass, despite being highly intelligent.
  • Rosel:  A village in The Realm, and the birth place of Hunter Rhylhaeven.
  • Rhylhaeven, Hunter:  A Kull-ti who eventually came to reunite his people with their sibling races of northeastern Ansend.  He was a direct descendent of Alextrin duRavengaard.

S

  • Safehold:  A mighty city-state founded shortly after the beginning of the age, when civilization was once more crawling out of the abyss from which it had fallen.  It was originally a place to escape the evil of a mighty sorcerer, and eventually gave rise to the great nation of Calorne.
  • Samildanach:  One of the y'Asalla, and the Autumn Lord.  It is he who sees the ultimate order that is locked within perpetual decay, and it is his goal to set the entire world on the road of perpetual decay -- an improvement over the Mother and Father's vision of creation.
  • Sea Screamers:  A troupe of pirates who roamed the Synlan Sea during the Ansendian Age.  Highly successful, their reputation extended as far south as Margoth.
  • Second Autumn War:  The attempt by Samildanach and the Blood of Autumn to conquer and convert the world, during the Ansendian Age.
  • Shaligaer Sea:  The name of the Synlan Sea during the Eolin Age.
  • Sithûs Far-hennan:  A temple-city built by the Ahngûntha in the Time Before Reckoning, and the center of this race's horrific blood-religion.
  • Spring, the:  A term often used to describe those forces that strive for the preservation of the world under the Mother and Father's vision.
  • Syllbanshii:  The proper title of the Sea Screamers in the Narcynan language.
  • Synlan Sea:  An inland sea in eastern Ansend.

T

  • Tangwen:  The daughter of the Queen of the White Citadel, and one time lover of Sean Donovan.  She ascended to the chair of the Queen in 1058 AA of the Ansendian Age.
  • Thirteen Dooms:  Thirteen weapons of magic and power forged under the instructions of Samildanach.  While they can be used for good or ill, all can be held under the sway of Samildanach.  And thus can their users also be held under sway.
  • Thralldom of the Four Races, the:  Referring to the time in the Age of Magic when the races of Elves, Men, Dwarves, and Goblins were held as slaves by the Yaurdwali te Dwauta.
  • Time Before Reckoning, The:  The earliest documented age of the world, centered on some one million years ago.  This was a time when the reptilian Mo Ketseth'ua ruled the world.
  • Tobias, Anthony: Better known as AT, he was a friend of Sean's, from Earth.  While best known as the football hero, he had actually dropped the game in lieu of a science career before being called to Eadaë.

U

  • Ûriad:  The strongest of the civilizations of the Ûriad Age, it came to encompass most of eastern Ansend.
  • Ûriad Age, the:  An age lasting from 22,000 to 20,000 years ago.  Often called a time of bestial civilization, the Men of this time managed to build crude, sometimes almost stone aged civilizations founded on plundered knowledge of the past, never truly fully understood.  The age did not last long because of this, but strange and powerful relics and ruins were left behind.
  • Ûrik:  The name that the Enkidai gave to Ithingwë.  Meaning First Home, these were the lands first settled by the Enkidai, during the Age of Gods.

V

  • Valensia:  The mightiest of the empires during the Valensian Age, this country encompassed all of Ansend and much of Amtherias.
  • Valensian Age, the:  An age lasting from 16,000 to 12,000 years ago.  It was marked by the rise of true classical civilizations.  World exploration and trade reached heights unseen since the reign of the Elder Races, and mighty and beautiful monuments and architectures were conceived and built.  The age ended, however, when civil war and encroaching barbarism tore apart even the most powerful of the empires.

W

  • Walls of Air:  A term referring to the boundaries of existence.  To part the Walls of Air is to literally create a gateway to another world.
  • War of Tears, the:  The war fought against the y'Asalla by the the Yaurdwali te Dwauta at the end of the Age of Magic.  The war was lost when the y'Asalla finally struck back and banished the Yaurdwali beyond the Walls of Air.
  • Wendol Pwyn:  A race of Men in the far west of Ansend.  They tattooed their entire bodies, and worshipped stones.  They would eventually give rise to such peoples as the Manin and Highlanders.
  • White Citadel:  The central keep of the capitol city of the same name, in the Lands of the White Citadel.  The Citadel is a mighty construction, dating back to the Elder Age.

Y

  • y'Asalla:  The proper name for the Gods, those born of the Mother and Father.
  • Yaurdwali te Dwauta:  A finite number of immortal beings, of great beauty and magical power, created by the y'Asalla during the Age of Gods when they vainly wished for worshippers.  The Yaurdwali eventually came to be fractionalized and loyal to certain y'Asalla, although eventually all fell under the sway of Samildanach, and were expelled from the world.
